We are thrilled to share our incredible experience at the First state workshop under the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), a transformative event organized by NITI Aayog, Govt. of India, and the Goa State Government. This inspiring gathering took place on October 3, 2023, at the scenic CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona Paula, Goa, and brought together remarkable minds dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs.

Among the speakers was Dr. Neelam Kaur, whose insights illuminated the day. Dr. Kaur delved into the significance of women’s entrepreneurship, underscoring the crucial role of mentorship in this journey. She passionately emphasized the fundamental need for education, asserting that it forms the bedrock upon which women can build their entrepreneurial dreams. Dr. Kaur also spotlighted the Akal Institute of Rural Empowerment, a commendable initiative taking giant strides in educating and empowering women in rural North India.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, whose presence underscored the importance of supporting and nurturing women in business.

Akal College of Education, Eternal University Baru Sahib, organized a community service event with the objectives of motivating participation, fostering cooperation and unity, developing critical thinking, and raising awareness about community issues. Dr. Raina Bhatia and Dr. Jasvir Kaur led the initiative, and B.Ed 1st and 2nd year students actively participated, enhancing their community service skills and enjoying the experience.

Gurmat Vidhyalaya organized a range of co-curricular activities, including drawing, poem recitation, tongue twister, debate, and drawing competitions. These activities were facilitated by the Journal Club, with the aim of promoting fitness, sportsmanship, competitiveness, leadership, cooperation, and team spirit among students. Co-curricular activities play a vital role in shaping students’ personalities and complementing classroom learning.

In the KG and 1st grade, a drawing competition was held, while the 2nd and 3rd grades participated in a poem recitation event. The 4th grade engaged in a lively tongue twister challenge, and the 5th and 8th grades showcased their debating skills. Students who excelled in these activities were recognized and awarded positions, such as Deep Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Ajit Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Ansh, Ishmeet Singh, Preetpal, Navjhot, Gurjeet, Lakshdeep, Jashan Party, Barinder Singh, Daljeet Singh, Akash, Aman, Ishmeet, Jashan, Jaskaran, Arjun, Ansh, and Harbans. These co-curricular activities in Gurmat Vidhyalaya fostered a holistic educational experience for the students.

Co-curricular activities were organized by B.Ed. 1st-year students at Akal Model School on May 18th, 2023, as part of the Preliminary School Engagement Programme (PSE). Dr. Raina Bhatia and Dr. Jasvir Kaur supervised these activities, which aimed to nurture students’ talents and develop crucial skills. This report highlights the range of co-curricular activities conducted at the school and their positive impact on the students. The student council members included Anchal Chauhan, Sarabpreet Kaur (President), Bharti (Vice President), Archna (Chairman), Akanksha (Secretary), and Dixita (Members/Coordinators).

Kindergarten (K.G.):

A poem recitation event was conducted for the K.G. students, with a total of 18 participants. The event was organized by Riya Thakur, Manisha Sharma, and Priyanka.

1st Class:

A drawing competition took place for the 1st-grade students. There were 6 participants, and the event was conducted by Ritika Sharma and Arshdeep Kaur.

2nd Class:

Similar to the 1st grade, a drawing competition was held for the 2nd-grade students. There were 18 participants, and the event was conducted by Priyanka and Tanisha.

3rd Class:

The 3rd-grade students participated in a poem recitation and drawing competition, with a total of 20 students. The event was conducted by Rajwinder Kaur and Madhuri.

4th Class:

A “Best Out of Waste” activity was organized for the 4th-grade students, with 20 participants. Jiya Saini and Mehak supervised the event.

5th Class:

The 5th-grade students engaged in a Tongue Twister challenge, with 13 participants. The event was conducted by Sakshi and Shakshi.

6th Class:

A quiz competition was held for the 6th-grade students, with 22 participants. The event was conducted by Akanksha, Khushpreet Kaur, and Jyoti Sharma.

7th Class:

Similar to the 6th grade, a quiz competition took place for the 7th-grade students. There were 15 participants, and the event was conducted by Samriti Sharma, Pankaj Thakur, Monika, and Preeti.

8th Class:

The 8th-grade students participated in a quiz competition, with 12 participants. The event was conducted by Daljeet Kaur and Pooja Sharma.

9th Class:

A quiz competition was organized for the 9th-grade students, with 12 participants. The event was conducted by Priyanka and Deepika.

10th Class:

The 10th-grade students took part in a declamation competition, with 9 participants. The event was conducted by Sapna and Nikita.

The successful plantation drive at Akal College of Education engaged all B.Ed. 1st and 2nd year students, promoting environmental sustainability and planting around 50 indoor plants. Positive feedback from participants showcased their fulfillment in contributing to a greener environment, while Dr. Raina Bhatia and faculty members appreciated their efforts.

 The Eco Club’s plantation drive at Akal College saw enthusiastic participation from B.Ed. students, resulting in the planting of 50 indoor plants. Participants expressed satisfaction in contributing to a greener environment, supported by Dr. Raina Bhatia and faculty members’ guidance and appreciation.

33 students from AKAL Institute of Rural Women Empowerment (AIRWE) have successfully completed their class 10 board exams with outstanding results. These 33 girls were enrolled in the AIWER free program. The certificate of completion was presented to them during the 10th convocation ceremony.

A two-day International Conference on “INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM IN 21ST CENTURY INDIA – CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES AND WAY FORWARD” was organised at Baru Sahib on 15th & 16th April, 2023. This conference brought together educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas, share best practices, and discuss challenges and opportunities in the field of education. All the students of AIRWE attended this two days conference with great excitement.

A special assembly on Vaisakhi was conducted on 13th-14th April 2023 marked as Sikh New Year. The Assembly commenced with Nagar Kirtan in the morning. All the students of AIRWE along with other department students participated in the Nagar Kirtan from morning till afternoon. After the Nagar Kirtan was over, the students were offered ‘langer’.

KISAN MELA

A special fair-Kisan Mela dedicated to the Farmers of India was organised on 12th April. AIRWE students participated in the Mela by putting a food stall and made other arrangements for successful execution. The mela is organised once a year.

Akal College of Education, Baru Sahib organised a ‘Baisakhi Poster Making Competition’ on 8th April in the college premises. The event was open to students of the college and all students applied for the competition. The participants were given a theme for the competition, which was “Baisakhi and Jallianwala Bagh massacre (Portrait, slogans, quotes, thoughts).

The movie session was organized by Media club under the supervision of Ms. Jagneet Kaur in Akal College of Education on 25th March. This session was from 2: 00 to 5:00 p.m. The purpose of the movie “HELEN KELLER” was to give glimpses of a special child’s life to the students. The child was the first deaf and blind child to earn a college degree.

The Department of Music at ACASS, EU organized a monthly performance on March 23, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Performance Room. The objective of the activity was to motivate the students for stage performance and build their confidence. Miss Rajwinder Kaur, a teacher associate from the Department of Music at ACASS, was a key member of the organizing committee.

A fun filled and adventurous trekking to the Mangarh was organised by the Eternal University, Baru Sahib on the 25th of February, 2023 under the sports and adventurous club.

The trekking started at 9:00 a.m and ended at 5:30 p.m. Around 200 students and 10 staff members were going to Mangarh for adventure.
