ABOUT US
AIRWE (Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment) is a residential program sponsored by The Kalgidhar Trust, dedicated to delivering high-quality education to disadvantaged young women from remote regions of North India. This initiative offers free Gurmat Vidya education to economically challenged girls from rural families who face obstacles in pursuing further education, primarily due to financial constraints. The Trust firmly believes in the transformative power of education, not only improving the lives of these young women but also uplifting their future generations.
AIRWE programs have been pivotal in introducing a substantial number of first-generation students (those being the first in their households to receive education) to the world of learning, thereby catalyzing progress for their entire families and communities. This program combines contemporary scientific education with spiritual enrichment, aiming to empower young women. The duration of the program spans from 4 to 8 years, depending on the student’s prior educational background at the time of admission. The women enrolled in this project receive education through the National Institute of Open Learning (NIOS board) and Eternal University (UGC approved). Since its establishment in the late 1990s, AIRWE has positively impacted the lives of over 1000 girl students in India. Upon completing their education, these young women become qualified to work as educators or administrators in Akal Academy schools or pursue further education abroad. The center also provides essential amenities such as free accommodation, meals, healthcare, and other support services throughout the program.

At AIRWE, our central mission is to empower young rural girls holistically – intellectually, emotionally, and morally. We strive to cultivate their character through a unique blend of modern and spiritual education, fostering their growth into virtuous individuals for the future. Beyond academics, we instill values of selflessness and brotherhood, aiming to contribute to the betterment of society as a whole. Additionally, we place significant emphasis on enhancing the students’ proficiency in the English language, recognizing its pivotal role in today’s world.

In our commitment to empower young girls and facilitate the transformation of their lives, we offer tuition-free higher education for girls.
Providing Holistic Learning
Through this program, we seamlessly integrate a fusion of spiritual/religious and contemporary education. Our primary objective is to provide comprehensive education encompassing formal studies, Gurmat education, English language proficiency, and life skills, equipping these young girls for a future full of possibilities. The program features a well-rounded curriculum designed to empower these young women, enabling them to seize opportunities in the modern world.
Provision of trained staff
In response to the scarcity of opportunities and resources, and with a commitment to empowering young women in rural India, our dedicated and highly-trained staff goes the extra mile to educate these girls. Our staff members possess the highest levels of Gurmat education and proficiency in conventional education. Hailing from prestigious institutions, they are experts in their respective fields.

Provision of trained staff
(1) To enroll in the BA program at Baru Sahib, students must have successfully completed all subjects in their Class XII (10 + 2) exams with a minimum of 50% overall and achieved at least 60% in the English Proficiency Test. Admission to the BA program will be granted only to those who meet these criteria.
(2) Students have the opportunity to pursue B.Sc. degrees in Medical, Non-Medical, Mathematics, or Economics at Eternal University. However, to be eligible, they must pass English, Mathematics, and Science exams administered by AIRWE, covering the syllabus from 8th to 12th grade. A minimum score of 60% in each subject is required to qualify for admission to the mentioned courses. Students are responsible for preparing for these subjects themselves.
ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਚਰਿੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਤ ਮਰਿਯਾਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਨੀਅਤ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।
