Admissions
To secure admission into the prestigious AIRWE program, students must meticulously follow a set of rules and regulations. Fulfilling the institute’s specific requirements and policies is the key to gaining admission. Listed below are the admission prerequisites:
- Walk-in admissions are open every year between May 01 to July 15
- Student must clear all subjects in their class 10th/12th examinations. Students are requested to carry along original class 10th/12th Certificate and first & second semester mark sheets at the time of admission.
- Students with a compartment in any subject are not admitted.
- 10th pass students must be at least 15 years of age and 12th pass students must be at least 17 years of age.
- To get admission in any course, it is necessary to clear entrance test at Baru Sahib. Admission information can be obtained through newspapers or from the office of Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment, Baru Sahib.
- Only unmarried students are admitted in the course. As long as the child studies in Baru Sahib, she cannot get married or get engaged.
- Students are requested to carry along 3 passport size photos of self, 3 photos of parents and 2 current photos of visiting relatives.
- Students are requested to carry (Original and Photocopy) School Transfer Letter or Migration Certificate, Code of Conduct or Character Certificate from their previous school, Aadhar Card, Caste Certificate & Physically handicapped Certificate (if applicable).
- Entrance test and office work will take a maximum of 2 days. Boarding and lodging will be provided free of cost at Baru Sahib.
- Students who will be enrolled after the commencement of the course, their foundation course will be started next year but their service and meditation program will start from that year itself.
- A recent medical test report (HB, Routine Urine, X-Ray Chest) has to be brought from home before admission. Conducting these tests in Baru Sahib will be charged at reasonable rates.
- Course fees, student accommodation, meals and tuition are free but fixed fees for house examination and board examinations of those students who have got compartment and will appear for supplementary exam will have to be paid by each student. In case of failure in any subject and reappearing in any exams, the student shall have to pay the fixed fees for the same.
- After entering AIRWE, Baru Sahib, the student will not be allowed to fill the private form of any class from home and will not be allowed to go home during examinations at all.
- Students must know Punjabi before admission. The child whose Punjabi is weak can borrow books from the library and learn Punjabi by herself. Students are also supported with Punjabi enrichment classes.
NAAM SIMRAN AND SEVA
- Students of Sikh family must be Amritdhari (initiated into the Khalsa fold)
- It is important to abide by the Sikh code of conduct.
- Participating in the daily routine and Naam Bani Simran during ambrosial hour is a must for every student, because it is an important part of this program.
- At least two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening to recite Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a must for every student. Besides this, presence for morning ‘Nitnem’ and evening ‘So Dar Sahib’ is also mandatory. Voluntary service (Seva) will also be required.
- This course is not completed by the number of years but is completed by spiritual and academic ability.
Rules for students for moving from one course to another:
Only students who meet the following criteria will be allowed to move from one course to another:
The student should pass with at least 50% marks in all the subjects
Attendance in the previous course of the student should be 90%.
Students must have a sense of service to humanity.
Student must adhere to discipline and participate in service and meditation.
Students must have a sense of service to humanity.
Based on the evaluation of the result and the decision of the Chairman of the Management Committee, the student will be upgraded to the next course.
Course Description:
For 10th pass students- The total duration of the course will be 5-7 years.
For 12th pass students- The total duration of the course will be 4-6 years.
First Year (Foundation Course): In the first year, students will be provided with Seva, Simran, Santhya (lessons), Gurmat training (Gurmat Studies) as well as manual service. In 11th (10+1), Humanities will be conducted in English Medium.
Second year: 12th will be conducted. At the same time, students who are interested in music will be admitted to a Foundation Course.
3rd, 4th and 5th year: Depending on the result of the entrance test, B.A. (Music) or B.A. (Humanities) will be conducted at Eternal University, Baru Sahib.
Sixth and Seventh Year: Students who have passed BA with at least 50% marks are eligible for B.Ed. or M.A. (English/Punjabi/Music) from Eternal University completely free of cost.
One Year Teaching Practice (Including Allowance) and One Year Internship with Stipend
Students are sent to any Akal Academy under The Kalgidhar Trust for one year teaching practice after completion of the course (including allowances). The job is given only after successful training practice.
