M.A. Music
The Department of Music offers a two-year MA in Music program, focusing on performance, with specialization options in Hindustani Vocal and Instrumental Music.
The primary objective of this program is to cultivate a profound appreciation of music, with a specific emphasis on Indian Classical Music, among students. The curriculum and assessment methodology are tailored to provide advanced proficiency in Hindustani Sangeet.
The academic component of the program covers in-depth music terminology, comprehensive historical context, and an exploration of the aesthetic aspects of music, stimulating students’ curiosity about the multifaceted nature of the subject. A crucial highlight of the program is live stage performances before an audience, a critical feature that exposes students to practical experience and fosters improvisational skills.

Profound artists and experts from the field of Classical Music and Religious Studies Sangeet visit the department for subject-related knowledge training of the students. The department has been arranging special classes from time to time for trained students to perform at various platforms.
Pandit Brij Narayan Ji
He is a famous sarod player, the son and disciple of renowned sarangi player, Pandit Ram Narayan Ji. He is known for adding a bow-type quality to his plectrum. He visited our department between the years 2012 – 2015 and has played an important role in reviving the playing techniques of old religious studies music instruments.
Ustad Surjit Singh Ji
Ustad Hansveer Singh Ji
An excellent artist, he is trained in Tabla from Ajarda Gharana. He underwent intense training and gained expertise from world-famous Tabla virtuosos like Anuradhapal, Ustad Manju Khan Sahib (son & disciple Ustad Habibudin Khan), and Pandit Fathe Singh Ji (Rajput). He is enlightened with a deep knowledge of Hindustani ragas and Taals. He has been selflessly serving the organization with his expertise, teaching, and guiding the students for advanced training in Tabla and Sangeet.
Pandit Harsh Narayan Ji
He is a famous sarangi player from Mumbai, who has guided many students with advanced learning in playing instruments.
Ustaad Sukhdev Singh Ji
Prof Kartar Singh Ji
Prof Kartar Singh Ji won several prestigious honors for his contribution to Gurbani Sangeet, which he had been practicing since the age of 13. He specializes in the popular classical music form of ‘tanti saaz’. He was one of the few ‘Gurmat Sangeet’ legends, who pursued music teaching. He visited Baru Sahib in 2017 and guided uncommon Raags to music students.
